Firmly rooted in the landscape of the Highlands, belief in the daoine sìth, or fairy folk, has long been intertwined with the Gaidhealtachd. The Gaelic language, culture, religion and oral traditions of the Scottish Highlands have ensured a rich heritage of stories & legends that tell of the daoine sìth. Some fairy folk are said to be kind and helpful. Others are known for their mischief-making. And some are blamed for causing harm or strife to the humans they become involved with!
