Local Craft Scene in Skye and Lochalsh

Skye & Lochalsh area is home to a host of creative people - from jewellery makers to painters, photographers to potters.

The area enjoys a vibrant arts & crafts scene with regular events throughout the summer (Easter-Sep) and on the run up to Christmas (Nov-Dec).

These events are a great chance to explore the range of creative goodies designed and created in the local area - and to pick up thoughtful and unique gifts.

Supporting Local Small Businesses

Whilst Skye & Lochalsh boasts a wide range of galleries and craft workshops that are open to the public, not all makers and artists have their own sales premises. Many rely on the craft fairs and events as their main outlets for trade.

A Great Day Out

Many craft fairs and events take place in village halls run by volunteers from the local community. As well as the craft stalls, they also offer a range of refreshments such as home baked cakes and scones, warming soups or light lunches.

Other events take place in local hotels such as Skeabost Country House Hotel, Sligachan Hotel and The Royal Hotel in Portree.
