Handcrafted Silver Fairy Brooch
I like to believe in the fairies of the Isle of Skye - that they dance around the Fairy Glen and bathe in he Fairy Pools. This handcrafted silver brooch is my homage to the fairies and it would make a very special gift.
The creative process for this 'one of a kind' piece began with the drawing of the fairy which I then made into a photopolymer plate to transfer onto the silver clay. Over several days the clay was shaped, cut, dried and sanded. The wee flower was made seperately and applied just before firing. In the kiln, the binder in the clay is burned away, leaving the silver. The brooch was then polished and sent to Edinburgh Assay Office for hallmarking before the final stages. I added a patina to enhance the fairy and her flowers and then applied a sterling silver brooch pin to the back.
This comes to you wrapped in tissue in a pretty organza bag, along with information about the creating process and tips on caring for your silver jewellery.
