Handcrafted Silver Brooch, Celtic Style
This celtic brooch began life as a lump of silver clay - well actually two pieces, because I made the celtic textured feature first then added it to the dry sanded base. After a great deal of time spent on refining the piece, it was fired. In the kiln the clay binder is burnt off leaving 925 silver.
This was polished and sent for hallmarking at Edinburgh Assay Office before I added the 925 silver brooch pin and gave the whole piece a quick dip in some liver of sulphur solution to enhance the celtic knotwork and give it a patina.
Comes to you gift boxed along with information about the silver making process and tips on Caring for Your Silver Jewellery.
